How can I compare questions in TurningPoint Cloud?

First insert the two slides that you want to compare.

Once both slides are inserted in the PowerPoint slideshow, then you can insert a comparison slide.

  • Click on Tools
  • Click on Comparative Links

  • In the drop down menus, choose each slide you want to compare.

  • Click Insert
When you reach that comparison slide, you will side a graph that sounds how the students answered the first time in comparison to how they answered the second time.

Can I give points for attendance rather than the correctness of a student's answers?

In TurningPoint Cloud the attendance points are called Participant Points.

Our first step will be to show the Participant Points in the Results Manager.
  • Open the TurningPoint software
  • Click on the Manage tab
  • Click on Overview
  • Click on the check box next to Per Session under Participant Points
  • Click on the check box next to Total under Participant Points
Our next step will be to set the points for each session based on participation.
  • Click on the session file header in the Results Manager

  • If Participation is not expanded on the left, click on the triangle to expand it.
  • Under Participation Points: enter the number of points that you want for a student to receive for participation in the session selected
  • Under Session Threshold: enter the percentage of questions that a student must answer (not necessarily answer correctly) to receive those points
    • For example, if the session has 6 questions and you enter 50%, then the student must click in an answer to at least 3 questions in order to receive their points.
The software will then automatically calculate the participant points based on those rules.  You will have to do the same thing for all session files.

How do I differentiate between students who got a 0 on their quiz because they missed all the questions and those whose clickers did not click in for any questions?

Sometimes it's important to be able to tell if a student wasn't in class or if they just missed all of the questions in a quiz.  You can tell that by looking at their scores in the Results Manager.

  • Open TurningPoint Cloud
  • Click on the Manage tab
  • Double click on the name of the participant list.

In the picture above, you will see that some students receive a dash (-) and others receive a 0.

Students for whom no data was gathered are given a dash (-) and students who simply miss all of the questions are given a score of 0.

When you upload your grades to a learning management system, the software will by default load a 0 to students who did not answer any questions.  You can however choose to upload a dash instead.
